About gigahertz to megahertz conversion
Processor clock speeds and Wi-Fi bands are quoted in GHz, while radio and older hardware specifications use MHz. A gigahertz is exactly 1,000 megahertz, so the conversion shifts the decimal point three places.
MHz = GHz × 1000How to use this converter
- 1
Enter a value
Type a number into the From box. It starts at 1 so you can see the basic ratio straight away. Thousands separators such as 1,250.5 are accepted.
- 2
Choose your units
This page opens with its own units selected. Use either dropdown to pick any other unit in the category, or tap a unit in the all-units list to make it the target.
- 3
Read the result
The answer updates as you type and the matching formula is shown underneath. There is no Convert button to press.
- 4
Swap, copy or clear
Swap reverses the direction, Copy Result copies a line such as 1 km = 0.621371 mi, and Clear empties the input so you can start again.

- SupportedThousands separators
1,250.5Commas must group digits in threes. 1,234 is read as one thousand two hundred thirty-four.
- SupportedScientific notation
1.5e6Useful for very large or very small values (1.5e6 = 1,500,000).
- Not supportedComma as decimal mark
2,5Type 2.5 instead.
- Not supportedFractions
1/2Type 0.5 instead.
- Not supportedNumbers with unit text
5 kmEnter only the number and choose the unit from the dropdown.
Output
Results use US English formatting (1,234.56) and show up to 6 decimal places with trailing zeros removed. Very small results appear in scientific notation, such as 9.0949e-13, instead of rounding to zero.

Tips
- FM radio runs from about 87.5 to 108 MHz, which is 0.0875 to 0.108 GHz.
- Clock speed alone does not decide performance: a 4 GHz processor is not automatically faster than a 3.5 GHz one.
- Frequency means cycles per second. Angular frequency (rad/s), RPM and BPM are not supported.
- Converting frequency to wavelength is not supported.
- Results show up to 6 decimal places. Values are not rounded during calculation, and a non-zero result that would display as 0 is shown in scientific notation.
Frequently asked questions
What is 1 GHz in MHz?
1 Gigahertz (GHz) equals 1,000 Megahertz (MHz).
How do I convert Gigahertz to Megahertz by hand?
Use MHz = GHz × 1000. For example, 2.4 GHz = 2,400 MHz.
What is 1 MHz in GHz?
1 Megahertz (MHz) equals 0.001 Gigahertz (GHz). Use the swap button to convert in this direction.
