Heights are stated in feet and inches in the United States and the United Kingdom but in centimeters on most medical forms, passports and size charts elsewhere. One foot is exactly 30.48 centimeters. If your height includes inches, first turn them into a fraction of a foot by dividing by 12.

Results use US English formatting (1,234.56) and show up to 6 decimal places with trailing zeros removed. Very small results appear in scientific notation, such as 9.0949e-13, instead of rounding to zero.

Tips

• 5 ft 9 in is 5 + 9/12 = 5.75 ft, which is 175.26 cm.
• Alternatively convert the inches on their own: each inch is exactly 2.54 cm.

• Uses the international definitions (1 inch = 25.4 mm exactly, 1 mile = 1,609.344 m). The older US survey foot is not used.
• Nautical miles, light-years and similar units are not available.
